Eric Owens, Bass-Baritone
This artist is a recipient of the Marian Anderson Award, the first prize in Domingo’s Operalia, and winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions and the Pavarotti International Voice Competition among others. From Gershwin’s Porgy to Wagner’s Alberich, Owens wows his audience.

Mathias Hausmann, Baritone
Hausmann is a favorite of Vienna audiences and equally at home at the La Scala with Daniel Barenboim. He is widely recognized for his DVD and CD productions from the Salzburg Festival and Teatro alla Scala and has received high praise for his ‘great artistic range’ and ‘versatility and artistic charisma’.

New York Festival of Song
A perennial favorite with our audiences, Steven Blier brings a group of four excellent young singers—soprano Michelle Areyzaga, mezzo-soprano Rebecca Jo Loeb, tenor Paul Appleby, and baritone Andrew Garland—in a program titled Songs for One and All: An Evening of Solo Song Cycles and Vocal Quartets. Featured will be songs of Wolf, Villa-Lobos, Grieg and Granados.

Lydia Teuscher, Soprano
Discovered by the noted Graham Johnson, this lovely German soprano has been a prize-winner in several German and French music competitions. She has appeared in Dresden Opera and has been featured in the Glyndebourne, Aix-en-Provence, and Salzburg festivals. She performed in recital with Graham Johnson in London, Cologne, and Antwerp, and will appear with him in performance with us.
February 15, 2012, 7:30 pm – Terrace Theater
Florian Boesch, Baritone
Austrian baritone Florian Boesch has established himself as one of the leading lied interpreters of his generation. His interpretation of Schubert’s Die Winterreise, has been widely acclaimed, but he is equally successful in operatic roles, having appeared in the title roles of Wozzeck and Don Giovanni in the past year. Boesch was presented with the renowned Russian ‘Golden Mask’ award for his Papageno in Moscow.

Anna Caterina Antonacci,
Soprano/Mezzo-soprano
Renowned throughout Europe, Antonacci has been awarded ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur’ by the French Republic, its highest national distinction. She has received great acclaim for her recent Carmen and her interpretation of Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda , performing it as a monologue of ferocious complexity

Gidon Saks, Bass-Baritone
Born in Israel, now residing in Canada, Saks has been charming audiences worldwide in critically acclaimed performances, as Claggart in Billy Bud , Hagen in Götterdämmerung , the Four Villains in Les contes d’Hoffmann and as Bluebeard. He has also performed the title role in Handels’ Hercules and in the Gramophone awarded Saul. He has appeared in several Wagner roles with The Washington National Opera, receiving highest praise in the Washington Post.
