Frankly, I am rather disappointed with your newly- formed program. I have a terrible time trying to figure out where you place your playlists. I usually find out was on your program after the fact. Are you planning to systematically a week in advance, or even a couple of days, place on your home page what will be the highlights of a particular day? If you don´t do this, I am afraid I will not subscribe afer the thirty days.
What I do manage to hear is quite fine. But, really, it appears that you are running a site that is based on improvisation. I hope you prove me wrong. Sincerely, Leonard Brownstein, Ph.D.
Dear Mr. Brownstein – Thank you for your comments, I will address them as well as I can here, and also send you a private response. I felt that the comments, while negative, brought up some valid points. I hope my responses help you and other listeners as we expand our offerings and work through the beta-testing of this site.
re: playlists. It is true that they are not as “visible” or accessible as they should be. That is being addressed in the website design. The subscription version of the pages will accommodate the player AND the playlists on one page, the free 30-day trial version will not.
re: timing of programming announcements. Internet radio differs from FM radio, and there are some rules regarding advance notice of programming that we need to follow. Unfortunately, US copyright law for digital/internet broadcasts prohibit any advance notice of programming. As a result we are unable to provide any detailed schedules or listing of works ahead of time.
re: improvisation. Actually, we consider the selected operas/recitals very carefully, and try to mix historical recordings with modern releases and feature up and coming artists alongside more established singers.
It is my hope along with our other volunteers here that you will consider staying with us as a listener, and please keep the comments coming!
